nothing seems as strange as when the leaves begin to change

Here I sit...7:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning. Dh's alarm went off at 5:45, as usual. He switched it off, rolled over and went back to sleep. I fought to wake myself up, and by the time I realized that it was Saturday and I didn't need to wake up, I was fully awake. So...rambles ahead. You've been warned.

Now when I get up in the mornings, it is still dark. Pretty soon we'll be eating dinner in the dark, too.But after the strange, wet summer that we had, we've been having some glorious weather. The skies are bright blue, and the leaves are just starting to turn yellow. orange and red. I'm hoping for a spectacular show from our sugar maples soon. Last year they fell before really turning colours, but it looks promising so far for this year.

Everyone is back at school, and ds18 is working at the supermarket near his school after school. I have never found it a real nuisance before, living in the middle of nowhere, but now that I have a son who needs to be picked up from work nearly every night, I'm wishing we lived within walking distance of something...anything!

Ds7's finger is healing nicely...thank You Lord! He's been really patient about soaking it every day, three times a day. He just grabs his Garfield comic book and reads to me while I work in the kitchen. Have I ever told you how much I love Garfield?

Oh, and just as I was waking up this morning, I was dreaming that Kim MI and I and her family were taking the ferry to Jellystone Park (evidently the Mackinac Bridge was out and we were coming at it from the north, as my family did the time we camped there on our way home from the Soo, many, many years ago.)

We were doing school this week and Alexander (1st gr) had a paper that said, "Yellow trees". He looked at me and said, "Trees are green." I said, "But in some places, leaves change color and can be yellow." At that moment he looked at me like I had grown a third eye. LOL The olders then informed him that I was correct but here in Savannah leaves go from green to brown. LOL Enjoy your color change and get some pics for us poor deprived souls in the South!! LOL

I also agree about picking up sons. :oyvey: Jeffrey likes to play basketball at the church once each week. He really needs to practice his parallel parking so he can get his license!! LOL

Oh, how odd, because this weekend I *was* up at Mackinac Island and Mackinaw City and *did* take a ferry - although not to jellystone. :) And the autumn colors - while still early in the season - were gorgeous on the drive up. I'm honored to have been in your dream!

I am not ready to think about kids with jobs needing rides. It's enough bother to shuttle them around to choir and the like.

hey, we got a wii fit while I was gone!

I love leaves changing colors. We don't get it much, but the ones we do have are beautiful. We're still hot here. Still running the a/c.
